Debit or credit letter notice from CRA

If your company receives a letter from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) regarding a debit/credit difference on your account, the cause of this difference may be because:

  • The PD7A statement received from CRA does not match what Dayforce displays on our Remittance Summary report for pay periods where Dayforce remitted on your behalf.

  • The year-to-date remittance totals shown on the last payroll run of the year do not balance to the T4 Summary and no year-to-date adjustments were entered on a Year-End Adjustment run (Y-Run).

  • You began processing payroll with Dayforce part way through the year and adjustments were keyed to transfer your year-to-dates.
Reconfirm the year-to-date totals populated by Dayforce match your payroll reports. Review the Executive Summary in the Standard Reports Package on the Payroll Reports page.Closed From the Reports menu, select Payroll Reports. for the pay period the adjustments were keyed.

  • Year-to-date adjustments keyed during the year.
Dayforce does not submit remittances for adjustments displayed on the Executive Summary. Review the Executive Summary in the Standard Reports Package on the Payroll Reports page.Closed From the Reports menu, select Payroll Reports. for the pay period the adjustments were keyed.

  • Remittances were paid to CRA and Dayforce was not notified to update our records. Example: Accountant making a remittance or manual cheques issued.

  • Adjustments keyed for your payroll at year-end.
If adjustments were keyed in a Y-Run, review the Payroll Register Summary report to determine if a balance was payable to CRA or a refund due to your company.

Note: All remittances relating to statutory and provincial payroll taxes and health care levies, resulting from adjustments, must be sent directly to the appropriate governing body. Dayforce will not remit these amounts on your behalf. For payment options for CRA, click here. For Revenu Quebec, click here. For all other agencies, please consult their website for instructions.

  • Two Employment Insurance rates.
If adjustments were made to move information from one EI rate to another, did you contact CRA to move the monies from one account to the other?
