Change company name

A change to your company name or your ‘operating as’ business name will require an update to your payroll set up, and in some situations a new payroll account number.

Tasks

1. Contact CRA/RQ to confirm if a new business number is required with this change. This is a requirement before Dayforce can proceed with this request.

2. Is a business number change involved with this request?

   No

   1. Complete the Company Name Change Form.

   2. If you fund by pre-authorized debit and your bank account information changes (i.e. Financial Institution #, Transit # or Account #), complete a Pre-Authorized Debit form. Provide updated information along with the required supporting documentation. A new form is not required if there is no change to banking information.

      Important: Enter your former company name in two locations - one at the top and the second in the lower right-hand corner of the form. Add the following comment next to both instances after printing the form: 'Changing company name to: (insert new company name here)'.

      Complete the Pre-Authorized Debit form

      1. Click here to access the form. The form opens in Adobe Reader.

         Note: You must have Adobe Reader installed on your computer to read documents in Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF). Click here if you do not have it.

      2. Complete the fields on the form.
      3. Complete the Name of Party on Bank Account section of the form if the name on your bank account is not the business name registered with Dayforce.
      4. (Optional) Save the completed form to your local drive.
      5. Print the completed PDF form.
      6. Sign and date the printed form.
      7. Specify with your correspondence if this request is to introduce a new funding method or to modify your current pre-authorized debit information.
      8. Complete one form for each payroll number.

      9. Email the completed form together with the required supporting documentation listed on the form to one of the following centres:

         • All provinces except Quebec: Email: [email protected]
         • Within Quebec only: Email: [email protected]

      Provide a “Void” cheque electronically personalized / pre-printed by the bank. If a "Void" cheque cannot be provided, provide TWO of the following supporting documents:

      • Bank provided counter cheque
      • Bank Pre-authorized Debit / Direct deposit set up form (must include company name and account number details)
      • Bank Account Statement (must include company name and account number details)
      • Bank Letter (must restate and confirm company name and account details)
      • Bank Email

      Note: Bank letters and bank emails must contain bank letterhead, be dated and signed with all the pertinent information (account name, institution, transit and account number).

   Yes. Is this a result of a change in business owners OR a business amalgamation?

   Yes, and the business number will change from the current number on file with Dayforce.

   A new payroll set up and contract is required.

   1. Click the Exchange icon in the Powerpay toolbar.

   2. Select Service Requests.

   3. Select Business Entity Changes.

   4. Click Contact Us.

   5. Complete the form and click Send.

      A Dayforce representative will contact you.

   Yes, but the current business number on file with Dayforce will not change.
