Second payment options for garnishments

For a Regular payroll run, use the Second Payment Options page.Closed From the Company menu, select Defaults > Second Payment Options. to indicate if garnishments are to be deducted for those employees who are receiving Second Payments. If the Apply ALL garnishments to Second Payments option is selected, Powerpay automatically deducts the garnishment from the employee’s Second Payment on that payroll run, provided that the minimum subsistence rules allow for that garnishment to be deducted. If a specific employee’s garnishment is not to be deducted on that employee’s Second Payment, you can enter a one-time ‘0’ dollar amount for that garnishment.

Conversely, if the Do NOT apply garnishments to Second Payments option is selected, Powerpay does not deduct the garnishment from those employees who are receiving a Second Payment on that payroll run. If a specific employee’s garnishment is to be deducted on that employee’s Second Payment, you can then enter a one-time dollar amount for that garnishment.
