Statutory Deductions

Use this page to change the way federal and provincial statutory deductions are calculated on an employee's earnings.

Use this page only if you need to set up statutory deductions for a new employee or make adjustments to an employee's statutory deductions.

The changes you make on this page can affect how the employee is taxed for the year, including extra taxes. After you make changes, request a Payroll Preview to verify that the changes you make have the desired effect.

Some of the tasks you can perform here include:

  • Set up statutory deductions for a new employee
  • Modify an employee's statutory tax deductions permanently or for the current pay period
  • Request one-time overrides of taxes and CPP/QPP, EI, and QPIP deductions
  • Specify permanent tax percentages for specific earnings types
  • Set up taxation values for commissioned employees
  • Allocate tax amounts to T4A and RL-2
  • Modify an employee's statutory deductions based on various forms, including TD1, TD1P, CRA, TP-1015.3-V, and K3 or K3P letters
  • Tax one-time earnings at a different percentage rate
  • Calculate deductions on employee bonuses or unusually large earnings in a single pay period
  • Make year-end adjustments to CPP/QPP, EI, and QPIP deductions
