It is NOT necessary to set up Special Statutory Deductions Considerations unless there is some unusual circumstance affecting any of the employee's statutory deductions. In most cases, statutory deductions are to be calculated based on your payroll’s pay period frequency according to legislation.
Should there be a requirement, this screen allows you to make the appropriate selection whether it is just for the current payroll or permanent in nature. For example, an employee may require a permanent additional amount of Federal tax to be deducted on each cheque; or an employee may have received a tax letter from CRA allowing for a tax reduction; or, if it is determined that an employee has a CPP/QPP deficiency, you can enter a one-time additional CPP/QPP amount to eliminate the deficiency.
Most employees do NOT have Special Statutory Deductions Considerations. It is quite possible that you will not require this screen for any of your employees.
