Use the information on this page to understand what to expect when selections are made on the
Note: The resulting status selection refers to the status in Powerpay. This is not reflected on the ROE.

The employee status displays as Active after the payroll processes.
The ROE can be requested on a Regular or Extra run - not an ROE run.
If Current Pay = Process: All hours entered and permanent earnings, including salaries, will process as usual on a regular run. To pay permanent earnings or salaries on an Extra run, enter one-time amounts on the

The ROE serial number is issued after the payroll processes. Until then, the form is a DRAFT copy only and can be used for previewing and validation.

The ROE is automatically sent to Service Canada on your behalf. For submission times, see ROE submission times to Service Canada.

1 This option is selected when Service Canada asks for an ROE to be produced. This may occur if an employee's hours are reduced, and the employee contacted Service Canada about EI benefits to supplement their income.
2 An amended ROE is requested to replace a previously issued ROE with errors.
3 The employee is reactivated from either a Terminated or On Leave status.
4 Reactivated employees require the ROE First Day Worked field to be entered. For instructions, see Rehire a terminated employee or Reactivate an employee from On Leave status.
5 Box 2: must be completed for all replacement ROEs. If you are producing an amended ROE for a previously amended ROE, insert the previously amended ROE serial number into Box 2 instead of the number issued on the original ROE. The employee continues to display in Powerpay. They are not removed with the first pay of the new year.
