Step 4. Change Employee Status (Optional)

What is a Status Change?

A status change is an event that changes an employee's working status such as activating, terminating, re-hiring, or placing an employee on leave.

Why do I have to do this?

An employee's status directly affects whether or not he or she is paid. For example, active employees are paid; terminated or on-leave employees are not.

Note: Records of Employment (ROE) for employees are available electronically. The ROE will automatically be sent to Service Canada once the payroll completes processing. Check Powerpay's online help for detailed information. From the Status Changes screen, click the Other Information - The Record of Employment link.
