Misc A. Create/Edit/Delete Wage Garnishment (Optional)

What is a Garnishment?

A wage garnishment is a legal process in which an employer must deduct a specific amount from an employee’s earnings for payment to a third party. A court order or government order is required for a wage garnishment.

Why do I have to do this?

Failure of an employer to comply with a garnishment order, may result in penalties, fines, or the employer being held responsible for the full balance of the garnishment.

Note: A garnishment does not require the permission of the employee.

More information on Garnishments is available on the Help tab in Powerpay or by contacting your Ceridian Customer Care team. The Canadian Payroll Association (CPA) also has information about garnishments and payroll, which you may reach by clicking here. Note you must be a member to access this site. Ceridian does provide training on garnishments.
